God's Rest

The other day I had the pleasure of meeting Trish and Michael Pinchert, a
Christian couple who started a hospitality ministry in Humble, TX. I personally
had never heard or known of a hospitality ministry prior to our meeting. I
knew about hospitality and how it worked in the Bible days through the stories
of Martha and Mary yet, the thought that this type of ministry existing today,
was new to me. With this being said, let me tell you their story:
The passion to reach out to others began in 1986 when Trish and Michael opened
their home to friends and family for various needs. Then around 1995, their
church had an Evangelist by the name of Chris Harvey come to town for a two
day revival. The revival ended up lasting for eight weeks. It was at this time
that the Pinchert's opened their home to strangers attending the revival from
Austin TX. "Keep on loving each other as brothers and d o not
forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained
angels without knowing it." Hebrews 13:1-2. This Bible
scripture is the foundation of their ministry and one they live out daily.
In 2000 they decided to incorporate and become a 501(c)3
non profit ministry. Trish stated; "that it is important to find your passion in life...then do
it." Since that time, they have had people from around the world as well as
the States stay in their home. Michael said; "that there is nothing which brings
him more joy than opening their home to God's people."
God's Rest is a haven for those who need a refreshing from God. Many people
are in physical, emotional and spiritual need. The love of Jesus can meet the
needs of all in every situation. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit never intended
that we should strive by our human efforts to achieve His will. God is the
one who refreshes our spirit, and God's Rest provides a home for His children
to be refreshed and renewed to do His will. God's Rest provides housing, food,
and other necessities in a comfortable setting rather than an institutional
atmosphere. A home setting is very conducive to providing a healthy, healing
environment. There is no set fee for this service, only a love offering is
requested. A small fee is charged for the seminars which are given every month.
God's Rest ministers to people by providing a short term shelter or lodging
to people in times of transition, a retreat for those in need of spiritual
renewal, a shelter for women in abusive situations, housing for those ministries
in financial need of lodging, a refuge to those suffering persecution, and
a restful place to come away with God. The ministry also provides other services
as well, such as seminars and retreats. A monthly Women's Day Out is provided
as a mini-retreat which includes three meals and Bible study.
Michael and Trish Pinchert's home and prayer garden is
the first implementation of God's Rest ministry. They have purchased thirty-five
acres of land in Colorado for the second location. In addition, the Lord has
provided a direction for them to have a "hospitality house" located in the Hill Country of Texas, and a search
is currently underway for the right location. No salaries are paid - all participation
in the ministry is voluntary. God's Rest relies on the blessing of God through
your tax exempt donations. To learn more about this precious ministry you can
